Group Therapy

At Heartwood Collective, group therapy offers a supportive space where individuals come together to share experiences, gain perspective, and grow alongside others who are navigating similar challenges. Many people find that hearing others’ stories and realizing they are not alone brings a powerful sense of relief and connection.

Group therapy combines personal reflection with the wisdom and support of community. In this setting, participants can explore patterns, develop new ways of relating, and practice more open and authentic communication.

Groups are intentionally kept small to create a safe, respectful, and supportive environment for everyone involved.

Rooted in psychoanalytic and gestalt traditions, group work attends closely to both unconscious relational patterns and present moment experience. It provides a living laboratory where longstanding dynamics emerge in real time rather than being discussed only in retrospect.

In group, individuals have the opportunity to practice being  themselves while in relationship with others. Patterns of attachment, protection, competition, withdrawal, or caretaking naturally surface within the group field. With careful facilitation, these dynamics are brought into awareness and explored with curiosity and honesty. Members are invited to notice what they feel, how they make contact, where they hold back, and how they impact and are impacted by others.

The group becomes both mirror and support. Through direct feedback, shared reflection, and embodied dialogue, members receive opportunities for corrective emotional experiences that reduce isolation and deepen relational capacity. Gestalt principles emphasize presence, responsibility, and authentic expression, while psychoanalytic understanding helps illuminate the deeper roots of relational patterns. Over time, this process strengthens emotional awareness, increases interpersonal effectiveness, and fosters a greater sense of belonging and integration.

Group therapy offers not only insight, but lived relational change. Over time, members often find themselves taking greater emotional risks, speaking more directly, setting clearer boundaries, and tolerating the natural tensions that arise in close relationships. The work can be challenging, as it invites honesty and accountability, but it is also deeply grounding. As trust develops within the group, a steady sense of belonging begins to form. What once felt isolating becomes shared and workable. Through consistent participation, individuals internalize new relational experiences that extend beyond the therapy room, strengthening resilience, authenticity, and the capacity for meaningful connection in everyday life.

What to Expect

Groups typically include 6–8 participants and meet weekly for 75 minutes.

In group sessions you may:

  • Share experiences in a supportive environment

  • Listen and learn from others’ perspectives

  • Gain insight into emotional and relational patterns

  • Practice communication and interpersonal skills

  • Receive thoughtful support and feedback

Participation always happens at your own pace. Some people speak often, while others begin by listening and reflecting. Both are welcome and respected.

Confidentiality and mutual respect are essential to creating a space where meaningful conversations can happen.

Why Group Therapy?

  • Feeling isolated or disconnected

  • Struggling with anxiety, stress, or emotional overwhelm

  • Navigating life transitions

  • Wanting to improve communication and relationships

  • Looking for support from others who understand similar experiences

Many participants find that group therapy provides something unique—the opportunity to grow through authentic connection with others.

At Heartwood Collective, group therapy offers a space to connect, reflect, and continue the process of growing from the inside out.

Men's Process Group: Friday's 12:15-1:45 pm

I

The Men’s Process Group is designed to bring men together in support of deepening personal and interpersonal awareness in relationship. This is an experiential group where members are invited to speak from their direct, present moment experience rather than from analysis alone. Participants share openly about their lives while also engaging in structured individual and group exercises that illuminate relational patterns as they unfold in real time. The group becomes a space to practice honesty, emotional presence, accountability, and authentic connection with other men.

Through consistent participation, members deepen personal understanding and increase self awareness. The group supports men in identifying and working through blocks to emotional awareness, overcoming relational obstacles, and breaking long standing habits of physical and emotional isolation. Participants practice vulnerability in a grounded and supported environment, cultivate greater skill in emotional communication, and gain meaningful accountability from other men who are also committed to growth. Over time, this work fosters stronger connections and a more integrated way of relating both inside and outside the group.

Consistent attendance is essential to the integrity and safety of the group. Members are expected to attend weekly. The fee is $75 per session and reserves your seat in the group. Payment is collected each week, including weeks when you are unable to attend. This structure is not intended to create hardship, but to support commitment, continuity, and the depth of work that emerges through steady participation.

This group is not about posturing or performance. It is about showing up as you are and being willing to be seen. The work can be challenging, but it is direct, honest, and deeply human. In a culture that often encourages men to isolate or carry their struggles alone, this group offers a steady place to build resilience, integrity, and real connection.
