Clinical Supervision

 with Jared Hinton

Developing as a therapist requires more than simply fulfilling licensure requirements. It is a process of cultivating clinical judgment, emotional steadiness, ethical clarity, and the ability to sit with the complexity of human suffering in a grounded and responsible way.

I offer clinical supervision for emerging clinicians who want to strengthen their skills, deepen their clinical understanding, and grow into the role of therapist with greater confidence and integrity.

Supervision is both a professional requirement and an important developmental relationship. It provides a structured space where clinicians can reflect on their work, discuss cases, receive thoughtful feedback, and refine their approach to therapy.

My goal as a supervisor is to help clinicians develop both technical competence and the internal steadiness required to work effectively with the emotional intensity that often arises in clinical work.

My Approach to Supervision

I am a therapist and coach at Heartwood Collective, where I work with individuals, couples, parents, and men navigating anxiety, trauma, relationships, and personal growth.

My supervision approach integrates several perspectives that inform my clinical work, including:

  • Trauma informed therapy

  • Attachment based approaches

  • Nervous system regulation

  • Mindfulness and contemplative psychology

  • Relational and psychodynamic perspectives

In supervision we explore both the practical and reflective aspects of therapy. This includes understanding client dynamics, treatment planning, and ethical decision making, while also paying attention to the therapist’s own internal experience in the room.

Learning to notice countertransference, emotional reactions, and personal patterns is an essential part of becoming an effective therapist. Supervision provides a supportive space to explore these experiences openly and without judgment.

Rather than simply offering answers, my goal is to help clinicians develop the awareness, curiosity, and clinical thinking that allow them to respond thoughtfully to complex situations.

What Supervision May Include

Clinical supervision with me may include:

  • Case consultation and treatment planning

  • Ethical considerations and professional development

  • Understanding trauma and nervous system responses

  • Working with attachment patterns and relational dynamics

  • Navigating challenging client interactions

  • Reflecting on countertransference and therapist reactions

  • Strengthening clinical presence and therapeutic boundaries

  • Developing confidence in clinical decision making

Supervision is also a place to ask questions openly and explore uncertainty. Many early career clinicians discover that the most valuable part of supervision is having a consistent space to reflect on their work and grow professionally.

Who Supervision Is For

Clinical supervision is appropriate for:

  • Associate licensed therapists working toward full licensure

  • Early career clinicians seeking guidance and mentorship

  • Therapists who want to deepen their clinical understanding

  • Practitioners interested in integrating mindfulness and nervous system work into therapy

  • Clinicians who value reflective practice and ongoing professional growth

Format

Supervision sessions may take place in person or virtually and typically occur on a weekly or biweekly basis, depending on licensure requirements and individual needs. Both individual supervision and small supervision groups may be available depending on scheduling and availability.

Getting Started

If you are seeking clinical supervision and feel that this approach aligns with your professional development, the first step is scheduling a brief consultation.During this conversation we can discuss your licensure requirements, your professional goals, and whether working together would be a good fit. Supervision works best when there is a strong working relationship built on openness, curiosity, and mutual respect. The initial consultation allows us to determine whether working together will support your development as a clinician.
